Apple yesterday released the latest iOS 18.4 beta and it enables support for RCS on Google Fi. iPhone users on the Google MVNO have been waiting for this improvement to Android-iOS messaging since September.

After it struck success with the Phone (2a) series, Nothing is back with more mid-range offerings. The Nothing Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro are built on the same formula, but with key upgrades including the missing telephoto cameras.

Amid this morning’s big Live announcement, Google is renaming “Gemini Extensions” to “apps.” There’s also a small tweak to the model picker on the homescreen.

The monthly “Google System Release Notes” primarily detail what’s new in Play services, Play Store, and Play system update across Android phones/tablets, Wear OS, Google/Android TV, Auto, and PC. Some features apply to end users, while others are aimed at developers.

The Android team this week is putting a “Spotlight” for developers on widgets, especially “high-quality” ones. Meanwhile, Android users will benefit from a new Play Store “Widgets” filter.
