Georgia Bulldogs football head coach Kirby Smart sideswiped Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Johnny Manziel during a recent coaching clinic.

Smart was speaking when four former collegiate quarterbacks popped up on his screen – Alabama’s Bryce Young, LSU’s Joe Burrow, Texas A&M’s Manziel and Auburn’s Cam Newton. He asked what each quarterback had in common.

One person yelled out "Heisman." Smart said that was a good answer. Each player did win the Heisman Trophy during their time in college. Someone else said "champion" and that appeared to be a bridge too far for Smart.

"Champions? He ain’t no champion. Champion of what? Champion of Fireball," Smart said of Manziel. "Alright, alright, alright, alright, I’m gonna go here for you. There’s Heisman. Right? They all had great days vs. our defenses. All four of them when off on us in some way shape or form."

The clip went viral on Monday.

Manziel struggled with drug and alcohol addiction during and after his NFL career with the Cleveland Browns. He reflected on the roots and impact of his addiction in a Q&A with students and those in recovery at the University of Alabama’s VitAL health conference back in August.

Manziel indicated during the conference that alcohol no longer had a place in his life. He also indicated the experience taught him a new way to manage any potential future success. He surrounded himself with consultants who pushed back on him when necessary. He said he learned that from having too much unanimous support from those around him in the past. 

"I started to develop and have a lot of yes men around me," Manziel said. "I think at the head of that group of influences was myself, and managing success now is not a solo thing. You need to have a support system and lean on things in your life."

Eddie Hill, a former NFL running back who played for the Los Angeles Rams and Miami Dolphins, has died, one of his former teams announced on Monday. He was 67.

The Dolphins announced Hill’s death in a post on social media.

"We are saddened by the passing of former Dolphins running back Eddie Hill, who played for the team from 1981-84," the team wrote on X.

No official cause of death was announced. Nearly eight years ago, Hill opened up to the Sun-Sentinel about his health issues and revealed he had battled brain cancer. He told the paper he believed he was also dealing with Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, or CTE, which is believed to be caused by repeated blows to the head.

"Every life has a purpose and football was one of those biblical, scriptural things that I learned early in life that applied to me, the gift," he told the paper in May 2017, adding he had no regrets about playing the sport.

"And recently, in the last 10-15 years, I’ve learned that purpose and I live that purpose."

The Rams chose Hill in the second round of the 1979 NFL Draft out of Memphis. 

He played for Los Angeles for two seasons, including a Super Bowl appearance in his rookie year. The Rams fell to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XIV.

He was traded to Miami before the start of the 1981 season. He played four more years with the Dolphins before calling it a career.

He appeared in 75 games and had 443 rushing yards with two rushing touchdowns. As a special teams player, he had 17 total kick returns for 330 yards.

Golf influencer Paige Spiranac was among those who took AimPoint to task over the weekend and now has put together an idea to make the game more fun.

Spiranac, who vowed her latest hot take would "ruffle some feathers," said in a video Monday that the tee boxes golfers start from should be determined by a player’s handicap and "not personal preference."

"The tee box that you play at a golf course should be decided by your handicap, not your personal preference," she said in a video posted to her Instagram. "If you show up to the golf course without a handicap, then you should play the forward tees. If you want to play the tips, then you have to be a sub-3 handicap. 

"I think this will improve pace of play and people will have a lot more fun. And it will also take away the decision on where they want to play or not play. It’s decided by your handicap. And if you want to play forward, fine. But you can’t play back until you improve your handicap."

Spiranac called for the ban of the AimPoint method, which finds a putting line on a green, in the professional ranks.

She later said her issue really was with the pace of play.

"In all seriousness, there’s nothing wrong with AimPoint," Spiranac wrote on X. "The problem is when it’s not taught correctly which will slow down pace. 

"Also a player who is slow will always be slow with or without it. My issue is when they are so conditioned to use AimPoint that it’s a habit they have to use even on tap ins. Trampling around the golf hole is not it."

Spiranac is a former collegiate golfer who has found success on the influencer side of social media. She boasts more than 4 million followers on Instagram and more than 1 million on TikTok.

President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk have come under increased scrutiny over spending cuts in certain sectors of the federal government and other issues since Inauguration Day.

The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Musk, reported that it has saved around $65 billion. DOGE said the savings estimate came from a "combination of fraud detection/deletion, contract/lease cancelations, contract/lease re-negotiations, asset sales, grant cancelations, workforce reductions, programmatic changes, and regulatory savings."

"We are working to upload all of this data in a digestible and fully transparent manner with clear assumptions, consistent with applicable rules and regulations," DOGE said on its website.

Each cut drew a massive response from all corners of the government and social media. 

Trump has been working on a Russia-Ukraine peace deal, dealing with illegal immigration and going toe-to-toe with governors over trans-athlete participation in women’s and girls' sports, among other issues.

At least one former NFL star came to the defense of Trump and Musk on Monday.

Le’Veon Bell, the former Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Jets star, suggested on X he could not understand the hate directed at both the president and the CEO of Tesla, SpaceX and X.

"Elon doin too much for this world for yall to be hatin," he wrote before adding, "Trump doin too much for this world for yall to be hatin."

Musk agreed with Bell’s take.

Bell supported Trump’s presidential run and spoke at a rally for him before joining him at a Steelers game.

Penn State’s Abdul Carter, who many experts believe will be gone in the first five picks of the 2025 NFL Draft, will not be working out at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis this week due to a shoulder injury. 

Carter will be participating in the league’s physical exams and interviews with teams in Indianapolis. 

Carter’s shoulder injury is nothing new, as he played through it in the team’s Orange Bowl loss to Notre Dame. He did, however, get cleared to start training again recently.

Carter’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told ESPN his client intends on being available for his Nittany Lions Pro Day. 

"We fully expect Abdul to be recovered in time to work out at his pro day at Penn State, and he will perform at a very high level," Rosenhaus told ESPN.

Rosenhaus will also send a letter to all 32 NFL teams from Dr. Dan Cooper, who said Carter has been cleared to resume training, per ESPN. 

Carter isn’t the only top prospect not participating in workouts at the combine, as running back Ashton Jeanty and quarterback Shedeur Sanders, both considered first-round talents, will do the same as Carter. 

For many prospect experts, Carter is the best defensive end in this year’s draft and arguably the best defensive player available. 

He recorded 24 tackles for a loss, 12 sacks, two forced fumbles and four passes defended for the Nittany Lions in a season in which they made the College Football Playoff. Carter was crucial in Penn State winning the Big Ten title as well as their CFP run until the Fighting Irish stopped them. 

Mock drafts from various outlets have Carter as high as first and second overall, while others have him as low as No. 7.

Matthew Stafford, the Los Angeles Rams quarterback who could be on the trade block this NFL offseason, reportedly wants to be paid more heading into his 17th season. 

During "Good Morning Football" on Monday morning, NFL Network’s Peter Schrager reported that the Rams and Stafford have a "fine relationship." 

However, he wants to be paid more – among the top quarterbacks in the league to be exact.

"This is nothing between them personally," Schrager said about Stafford and the Rams. "This is a money issue. Matthew Stafford wants to be paid what he thinks he’s worth. He wants to be paid more than $50 million."

The Rams did give Stafford permission to discuss a contract with other teams this offseason despite being under contract for another two seasons before he’s set for free agency. 

According to Sports Illustrated, quarterback-needy teams like the New York Giants, Cleveland Browns, Las Vegas Raiders and Pittsburgh Steelers have contacted Stafford. 

TOP 5 POTENTIAL TRADE FITS FOR RAMS QB MATTHEW STAFFORD

Schrager adds that teams are willing to pay Stafford more than the Rams are willing to offer him. 

For the 2025 season, Stafford carries a $49.67 million cap hit, per Spotrac, and it goes up to $53.67 million in 2026. 

The Giants are an intriguing team in terms of trading for Stafford because they own the No. 3 overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft. However, Schrager said the Giants would never get rid of that pick for Stafford, but perhaps a second-round pick could be involved. 

As for the Steelers, they were a playoff team last season with Justin Fields and Russell Wilson playing under center for them. Maybe Pittsburgh is willing to pay big money for a quarterback with a Super Bowl pedigree to make a playoff run they haven’t had since 2016, when they lost in the AFC Championship.

The Browns have Deshaun Watson under contract, but after re-tearing his Achilles during rehab, their quarterback situation is in limbo heading into 2025. Finally, the Raiders, now under the leadership of legendary coach Pete Carroll, are a rebuilding squad that could use more senior leadership in the locker room, and Stafford certainly fits the bill. 

But like Schrager said, the Rams and Stafford don’t have a spoiled relationship, and perhaps they can work something out. 

If $50 million is the starting point for Stafford, only nine other quarterbacks in the NFL are due to make that in 2025 – Dallas Cowboys’ Dak Prescott is top of the list at $60 million per season. 

The only quarterback making above $50 million on that list with a Super Bowl ring like Stafford is Philadelphia Eagles’ Jalen Hurts, who got his first Lombardi Trophy in Super Bowl LIX. 

And while that’s all going on with Stafford, the Rams also made it clear that veteran wide receiver Cooper Kupp, long one of his quarterback’s most-trusted targets, is on the trade block. He isn’t expected to be at training camp with Los Angeles but rather a different team when a desirable trade package is presented. 

The Rams have young star Puka Nacua, who developed strong chemistry with Stafford in just two seasons, on the roster. However, Demarcus Robinson, who was WR3, is an unrestricted free agent, as well as Tutu Atwell, the team’s second-round pick from 2021.

The 4 Nations Face-Off was a massive success for not just the NHL, but the game of hockey as a whole. 

But NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman isn't sure the tournament will be making a return during the 2025-26 season. 

Making an appearance on "The Rich Eisen Show," Bettman explained why the league will have to think long and hard about how the tournament would fit into next year’s schedule due to the Winter Olympics and World Cup of Hockey also being played.

"The success has been so quick and overwhelming," Bettman said. "We’ve got a lot of things to consider and sort out, including what our All-Star game looks like going forward. But, look, it was all good."

The 4 Nations Face-Off was played in place of the traditional All-Star Game this year, and it featured world teams from the United States, Canada, Sweden and Finland. 

Bettman called it a "quick appetizer" for the other international hockey that will be played in the coming years. The Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy, will kick off in 2026, and the World Cup of Hockey will return for the first time since 2016 in 2028 and will continue every four years afterward.

The NHL previously didn’t allow its players to participate in the last two Winter Olympics. But the league will again allow its players to do so, starting next year in Milan.

In terms of the World Cup of Hockey, Bettman said the goal is to "do a full World Cup, like you see in soccer." The tournament will be in Europe as well as North America. 

So, while Bettman said he wasn’t sure if the 4 Nations Face-Off would be back, he told Eisen that he was asking "the absolute right question."

"I don’t have all the right answers yet," Bettman continued.

The 4 Nations Face-Off was a tremendous success, especially considering how dull sports fans have found some All-Star Games, especially in the NHL and NBA in recent years. 

There was a true sense of pride from all four countries, including the championship final between Team USA and Team Canada, which ultimately ended with Connor McDavid scoring the game-winning goal in overtime.

Because of the success, hockey fans believed it only made sense for the league to continue building upon the inaugural tournament. 

Bettman and the rest of his high-ranking executives will work to see if there is a solution that keeps the tournament from being a one-off moving forward.

INDIANAPOLIS – It's a different time in America and the idea that the Philadelphia Eagles would skip another trip to the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl victory with President Donald Trump isn't the reality we're in anymore.

That was the case in 2018.

Not in 2025.

The Eagles, winners of their second Super Bowl in seven years after beating the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this month, would love to visit Trump this time around. 

"We would be honored to visit the White House," a club source told OutKick. "It's one of the things we had looked forward to doing, and we look forward to receiving the invitation."

That's the thing: The White House has yet to extend the invite. 

NFC TEAM SUBMITS PROPOSAL TO BAN EAGLES' FAMOUS ‘TUSH PUSH’ PLAY: REPORT

Seems streamlining a bloated government, saving billions, trying to broker peace in the Middle East and Ukraine and rooting for the USA hockey team takes up a lot of time. But the invite will surely come, and this time it will be accepted.

There were rumors and a false report from earlier this month that the Eagles had voted against making the trip.

OutKick founder Clay Travis put out that fire Monday morning.

That report seemed plausible because the Eagles and Trump had failed to come to terms on a visit after they beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl in 2018. Amid the kneeling controversy, several players voted not to attend.

The plan then had been to send a smaller contingent of players for the ceremony, but the visit was eventually canceled. 

Then the White House rescinded the invitation.

In a statement from the White House at the time, the situation had been described as the Eagles players disagreeing "with their President because he insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem, hand on heart, in honor of the great men and women of our military and the people of our country."

 So that trip never happened.

But this is a new day in America, folks.

Well, feels that way for some folks. Black, Hispanic and other minorities voted for Trump in record numbers in the last election.

There is no kneeling for the anthem controversy going on right now.

And there is hope an economy that hurt a lot of people the past four years under Joe Biden – including a lot of people blue cities such as Philadelphia – can be fixed.

The Florida Panthers became the first pro team to visit the White House since Trump began his second term to celebrate their 2024 Stanley Cup victory.

And Tiger Woods, a 2020 Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient, has recently spent time with Trump as well. 

Trump, we believe, is a big-time sports fan. He attended the Super Bowl game the Eagles won. And he could be the most sports-minded president in memory.

So, now that the Eagles have signaled they'll attend, you better believe Trump will issue the invite.

It should be something to see ardent Democrat party supporter Jeffrey Lurie, the Eagles owner, gift Trump with an Eagles jersey.

Longtime Cleveland Guardians owner Larry Dolan has died at age 94, the team announced Monday. 

The Dolan family is the longest-tenured owner in franchise history, and its patriarch is a lifelong Clevelander who influenced his community both on and off the field over the years.

"We are saddened by the loss of our Dad, but lucky to have him as part of our lives as long as we did," Dolan’s son, chair and CEO Paul Dolan, said in a statement. "He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who was passionate about his family, work, our community and his love of our local sports teams, including owning the Cleveland Guardians."

The Guardians added a video to its announcement of Dolan’s death, saying "Cleveland sadly lost one of its own today."

"Born in Cleveland Heights in 1931, Lawrence J. Dolan invested his entire life in Greater Cleveland and impacted our community on so many levels," the narrator says over a montage of Dolan pictures. "From his service to our country as a first lieutenant in the United States Marines, his many philanthropic acts in kindness, his career in law, business, education and sports, many benefited from his engagement, influence and passion, especially in the world of sports."

Dolan was a multi-sport star at Saint Ignatius High School, playing both running back and defensive back on the football team and starring as a catcher on the baseball diamond.

"He was blessed to realize two dreams [of] almost every Cleveland athlete of his generation: to play on the field at Cleveland Stadium, where his boyhood idol, Lou Boudreau, starred, and to own one of our city’s professional sports teams," the narrator continues.

"In February 2000, he purchased his beloved hometown baseball team. We are forever grateful for his passion and supporting the Northeast Ohio community and the Cleveland Guardians organization."

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred also released a statement on Dolan, expressing his condolences to the family and organization. 

"I am saddened by the passing of Cleveland native Larry Dolan, whose family's quarter-century ownership has made their hometown team a consistent winner and a staple of their community," Manfred wrote in a statement. "Larry was a lifelong baseball fan who served our country as a First Lieutenant in the United States Marines. He strongly believed in mentoring young people and using the Guardians as a way to impact Greater Cleveland."

Dolan purchased his hometown team for "323 million from Richard Jacobs, and he saw Cleveland post 14 winning seasons and nine trips to the postseason since then."

In 2016, they reached the World Series as the American League pennant winners but fell to the Chicago Cubs at home in a thrilling game.

Paul Dolan ultimately took over as the primary owner of the franchise in 2013, eventually overseeing the team's name change to Guardians in 2021.

A scary moment occurred in Kent, Indiana, as a bus carrying the Indiana University Indianapolis men’s basketball team caught fire on the way back from a road game on Saturday. 

The team was returning from its game against Northern Kentucky when a mechanical issue caused the bus to catch fire. 

The entire team and staff evacuated the bus safely, according to a post from IU Indy Athletics on X. The post also mentioned another bus was en route at the time to pick them up for the trip back to Indianapolis.

Photos were provided to Fox News Digital by IU Indy Athletics, which showed the bus completely burnt and charred from the flames that engulfed it in the middle of the highway. 

Another photo showed bellowing black smoke rising from the bus, which caused some obvious traffic on the highway.

The Jaguars fell to the Norse, 71-67, in Highland, Kentucky, before the ride home. 

IU Indy is 9-20 overall on the year (5-13 in conference play). They’ve had a rough go of late, losing four of its last five games.

Only two games remain in the regular season, both of which will be at home in Indianapolis.

Another attempted ban of the "Tush Push" has been brought before the NFL, and a team that fell in the playoffs to the Philadelphia Eagles, who made the play famous, is reportedly behind the rule change. 

The Green Bay Packers, whose president Mark Murphy has come out against the short-yardage play, submitted a proposal to the NFL’s competition committee to ban it, per The Athletic. 

In a Q&A on the Packers’ team website, Murphy said he was against the play, saying that it’s "almost an automatic first down on plays of a yard or less."

He also brought up the Washington Commanders’ attempts to stop it on the goal line during the NFC Championship Game, which ultimately led referees to warn them they could award a score if they continued to jump offsides. 

"I am not a fan of this play," Murphy said. "There is no skill involved and it is almost an automatic first down on plays of a yard or less. The series of plays with the Commanders jumping offsides in the NFC Championship Game to try to stop the play was ridiculous. 

"I would like to see the league prohibit pushing or aiding the runner (QB) on this play. There used to be a rule prohibiting this, but it is no longer enforced because I believe it was thought to be too hard for the officials to see. The play is bad for the game, and we should go back to prohibiting the push of the runner."

NFL DENIES ‘TUSH PUSH’ BAN RUMORS AS EAGLES CONTINUE TO DOMINATE: ‘THIS PLAY HAS EVOLVED’

Now, it’s worth noting that the Packers have done their own version of the "Tush Push," going a perfect 5-for-5 when tight end Tucker Kraft gets under center on sneak attempts. They converted two of those against the Eagles in the playoffs as well. 

However, those are more traditional sneaks instead of Jalen Hurts being shoved by tight end Dallas Goedert and running back Saquon Barkley from behind, making it virtually impossible to stop the play. 

Hurts scored Super Bowl LIX’s first touchdown on that play from the goal line on their way to winning, 40-22, over the history-seeking Kansas City Chiefs. 

Other teams have attempted their own version of the "Tush Push," but the Eagles have mastered the play, hitting successfully on first-down conversions or touchdowns more than any team by far. 

Last offseason, there was some heated debate about whether the play should remain in the game, but it never came to a vote. 

League owners would have to vote to have the play removed, which would be done in March.

Al Trautwig, a sports commentator who covered the New York Yankees, New York Knicks and New York Rangers, has died, his former colleague revealed in a post on social media Monday. He was 68.

Alan Hahn made the post about the MSG Networks broadcaster.

"I’m sad to share the news that we lost a legendary voice in sports. But we lost a lot more than that," he wrote on X. "He was not only a friend, but a mentor and a teacher. He was, personally, one of my biggest resources of support when I moved into this career."

Trautwig was a longtime broadcaster on MSG Network as he covered the pregame and the postgame shows for the Knicks and Rangers. He would occasionally do play-by-play commentary as well.

He covered the NHL on USA Network and Versus and hosted "SportsNite" on ABC Sports early in his career. But fans of New York City sports knew him from his coverage of the area’s top teams. In addition to his Knicks and Rangers coverage, Trautwig also did pre and postgame coverage for the Yankees before they moved from MSG to the YES Network.

He worked for MSG Networks until 2021.

"He leaves behind one of the great legacies in New York sports broadcasting history. Our thoughts and prayers are with Al’s family and friends."

Fans of Trautwig also weighed in on social media.

Trautwig told Newsday last year he underwent treatment for cancer and held out hope he was going to recover fully from the illness. 

A cause of death was not revealed.

A state lawmaker from Maine called the state’s policy on transgender participation in girls' and women’s sports "extreme" and warned that it could cost schools millions in federal funding.

State Rep. Laurel Libby, R-Auburn, appeared on OutKick’s "The Ricky Cobb Show" and reacted to last week's spat between President Donald Trump and Maine Gov. Janet Mills. The two butted heads over the state’s transgender participation policy in girls' and women’s sports after the president signed an executive order to prohibit those types of rules.

The Maine Principals’ Association’s rules stated that a prospective student athlete must "declare their gender identity to their member school if their gender identity differs from the student’s sex assigned at birth." The rules stated that the school has "sole authority to determine gender identity assignment for the purposes of athletic registration and participation in MPA sponsored events."

Furthermore, "no medical records or official documents shall be requested for required to establish a student’s gender identity."

"That is the policy that Governor Mills is defending against President Trump," Libby said. "It is so extreme. It is an outlier even among other states that have similar policies. And it’s an extreme position that Mainers don’t support. 

"Not only is she supporting this extreme policy, her stance could cost the state $250 million for Maine’s schools and that is money that we need to provide education for Maine kids. It’s a two-for as far as how this hits our state. And it seems like she’s pretty dug in, and President Trump is gonna have to take this all the way through the courts."

Libby called the policy "incredibly broad" and pointed to an issue the state has seen recently over a transgender athlete winning a state title in girls' pole vaulting.

The "No Men in Women’s Sports" executive order was signed earlier this month. Trump vowed to withhold federal funding from Maine schools if they violate his federal order.

The Department of Education launched a Title IX investigation into Maine.

Mills said in a statement on Friday that she was standing up for the "rule of law."

"No President — Republican or Democrat — can withhold Federal funding authorized and appropriated by Congress and paid for by Maine taxpayers in an attempt to coerce someone into compliance with his will. It is a violation of our Constitution and of our laws, which I took an oath to uphold," she said.

"Maine may be one of the first states to undergo an investigation by his Administration, but we won’t be the last. Today, the President of the United States has targeted one particular group on one particular issue which Maine law has addressed. But you must ask yourself: who and what will he target next, and what will he do? Will it be you? Will it be because of your race or your religion? Will it be because you look different or think differently? Where does it end? In America, the President is neither a King nor a dictator, as much as this one tries to act like it — and it is the rule of law that prevents him from being so."

Mills added that she imagined the outcome of the investigation was "predetermined" and that it was not about what is happening on the playing field, but "whether a President can force compliance with his will, without regard for the rule of law that governs our nation. I believe he cannot."

Dallas Cowboys Executive Vice President Stephen Jones suggested on Monday the team would use the upcoming NFL Draft to prioritize depth at the quarterback position.

Dak Prescott suffered two devastating injuries over the last five seasons, and it left the Cowboys in the lurch as far as backup quarterbacks have gone. Cooper Rush, Trey Lance and Andy Dalton were not the answers to replace him. When Prescott was healthy, the Cowboys operated as one of the best teams in the NFL. They had at least 12 wins from 2021 to 2023.

Jones, who is in Indianapolis for the NFL Scouting Combine, told reporters that developing a young quarterback behind Prescott is something the organization will look to address.

"You know, I think one of our goals is to get a young quarterback in the draft," Jones said, via the Dallas Morning News. "I don’t know where that’s going to be.

"That’s why we gave a (fourth-round pick) for Trey. It seems like all the quarterbacks, even guys we have in the fourth round, go in the first. They always go so much higher than what you think."

The Cowboys acquired Lance from the San Francisco 49ers before the 2023 season, but he played sparingly, if at all. Rush signed with the Cowboys in 2017 and has regularly been used as the QB2 option for most of his career in Dallas. He was briefly with the New York Giants in 2020.

The draft will feature a bunch of quarterbacks most college football fans will know.

Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward are expected to be taken within the first six picks of the draft. Jalen Milore, Kyle McCord, Jaxson Dart, Quinn Ewers and Riley Leonard are some of the players that could fall to the Cowboys.

San Diego Padres pitcher Cole Paplham was on the receiving end of a 102-mph line drive to the head on Sunday in a spring training game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The incident occurred in the bottom of the eighth inning. Paplham threw a pitch to Dodgers infielder Aaron Bracho on a 2-0 count. Bracho returned the pitch directly to Paplham. He went down for several minutes before he walked to a golf cart and took off the field.

Padres manager Mike Shildt said Paplham "seemed alert" as he tried to shake off the scary incident.

"Our prayers are with him," Shildt said, via MLB.com. "He was conscious, seemed alert, knew where he was. But clearly a scary thing. … He was clearly in some pain, and obviously when something like that happens, a little bit rattled."

Paplham has been in the Padres’ minor league system since 2023. He played collegiate ball at the University of New Orleans and then participated in the MLB Draft League for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers.

He has moved around from Single-A to Double-A levels of minor league baseball. He had a 3.82 ERA and 11 strikeouts in eight appearances in 2024.

Paplham’s incident came days after Dodgers pitcher Bobby Miller was struck in the face by a line drive.

Miller is still in concussion protocol as he recovers from the incident.

Steve Toyloy, a former center for the Cincinnati Bearcats men’s basketball, has died, the school said in a social media post on Sunday. He was 37.

The school announced his death on X.

"Cincinnati basketball mourns the loss of Steve Toyloy, a Bearcat from 2008 to 2010," the men’s basketball team’s post on X read. "Our thoughts are with Steve's family, teammates, and all who knew him."

No cause of death was announced.

Toyloy played with the Bearcats in his junior and senior seasons. He played in 67 games and averaged about 15.8 minutes per game over the course of his career. He averaged 3.6 points and 3.5 rebounds in those appearances.

He played under then-head coach Mick Cronin for those two years. The Bearcats were 18-14 in 2008-09 and 19-16 in 2009-10. The team made it as far as the NIT in 2010. They missed the postseason altogether in 2009.

Toyloy never made it to the NBA but was able to continue his professional career internationally.

He played in Turkey, Brazil and Malaysia. He was named the MVP of the Malaysia Pro League in 2019. He was playing basketball as recently as 2023, according to sports writer Jordan Yap.

New Orleans played host to the Super Bowl for the 11th time in the city’s history, and on Friday, it was announced as the host of one of the biggest pro wrestling events in the world.

WrestleMania 42 will be held at the Caesars Superdome next year. It is the third time the city will host the "Granddaddy of Them All." The two-night event will take place on April 11 and 12, 2026. It is the first time the city will hold the event since WrestleMania 34.

"Finally, WrestleMania is coming back to New Orleans," Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, a 10-time WWE champion and TKO board member, said in a news release on Monday. "Next year, 2026, WrestleMania 42, live from the Superdome in one of the greatest cities on earth, New Orleans, Louisiana."

Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry also touted WWE’s decision to return to the "Big Easy."

"We are ecstatic to host WrestleMania 42 in New Orleans next year. Hosting this iconic event three times in the last 12 years is an honor we do not take lightly," Landry said. "I want to congratulate the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation for their successful efforts on this project. We look forward to showing WWE fans from around the world all our great state has to offer."

WWE also said "Monday Night Raw," "Friday Night SmackDown" and NXT Stand & Deliver will also take place around WrestleMania 42 in addition to WWE World and the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony.

The Rock was the one who made the initial announcement on the latest episode of "Friday Night SmackDown." The show took place at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans and saw a confrontation between The Rock and Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. 

The Rock said he wanted Rhodes to become "his champion" and, instead of aiming for the WWE title belt, he was searching for Rhodes’ soul. Rhodes has until Saturday at Elimination Chamber.

It is unclear how that will affect the road to WrestleMania 41, which will take place on April 19 and 20 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Bill Demory, a former quarterback for the New York Jets in the 1970s, died earlier this month, according to an obituary posted online. He was 74.

Demory battled prostate cancer and Parkinson’s disease, according to AZ Central. The obituary said he died "peacefully" on Feb. 14.

He was born in Iowa but moved to Arizona with his family when he was young and attended high school in Phoenix. He attended the University of Arizona and was a quarterback for the Wildcats for three seasons before he turned pro.

In 27 collegiate games, Demory had 3,268 passing yards and 28 touchdown passes. Arizona did not have a winning record when he was there.

He joined the Jets in 1973 and started in three of the six games he played in. He had 159 passing yards, two touchdown passes and eight interceptions that season. He was in a quarterback room that included Al Woodall and Joe Namath. New York finished 4-10 that season.

In 1974, the Jets were 7-7 with Namath leading the charge. Demory never saw the field.

Arizona Central noted that before Nick Foles started a game in the NFL, Demory was one of three quarterbacks who played at Arizona and started an NFL game. Eddie Wilson and Fred Enke were the other two.

Demory was later an economics professor at Arizona Western and Central Arizona College from 1999 to 2016 and an adjunct teacher at Mesa Community College from 1998 to 2024.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, two daughters, 14 grandchildren, two step-children and his brother.

Auburn Tigers men’s basketball coach Bruce Pearl had a warning for the "bad guys" as President Donald Trump announced the latest appointment in his administration.

Trump announced on Sunday that Dan Bongino will be the next deputy director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Bongino is a former Secret Service agent and will serve under Kash Patel.

"Great news for Law Enforcement and American Justice," Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. "Dan Bongino, a man of incredible love and passion for our Country, has just been named the next DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF THE FBI, by the man who will be the best ever Director, Kash Patel."

Pearl reacted to Bongino’s appointment on X.

"Congratulations to my friend and great patriot Dan Bongino," he wrote in a post. "The bad guys best keep their head on a swivel!"

Bongino, who is also a former Fox News host, thanked Trump and Patel in a post on X.

Trump touted Bongino’s resume, including his master’s degree in psychology from City University in New York and an MBA from Penn State.

"He was a member of the New York Police Department (New York’s Finest!), a highly respected Special Agent with the United States Secret Service, and is now one of the most successful Podcasters in the Country, something he is willing and prepared to give up in order to serve," Trump added. "Working with our great new United States Attorney General, Pam Bondi, and Director Patel, Fairness, Justice, Law and Order will be brought back to America, and quickly. Congratulations Dan!

Logan Paul has left an indelible impression on WWE fans with his wrestling prowess since he entered the squared circle for the company in 2021.

"The Maverick" has been seen in multiple premium live events, went viral for his wild moves off the ropes and was even the United States champion for a time last year. Even with someone who has had as much success as the podcaster and social media star, he made clear there was one move he never wanted to perform again.

Paul posted a video of himself performing the moonsault and battery on Rey Mysterio during a recent match on "Monday Night Raw." The maneuver involved Paul picking up Mysterio from the middle turnbuckle and flipping backward with him in his arms. Only a handful of pro wrestlers across the industry perform the move as it is.

However, for Paul, his days doing that seemed to be over.

"Never doing that again," he wrote on Instagram, tagging WWE in the process.

Paul used the move to help beat Mysterio in a qualifying match for the Elimination Chamber.

The men’s Elimination Chamber match is on Saturday. The event will see Paul, John Cena, Seth Rollins, CM Punk, Damian Priest and Drew McIntyre vie for an opportunity to go to WrestleMania 41 and compete for the Undisputed WWE Championship, which is held by Cody Rhodes.

Jey Uso won the Royal Rumble and will take on Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania 41.

Paul competed in the Elimination Chamber match last year, but it was McIntyre who was victorious.
