David Beckham puts Manchester United on notice following abysmal season, player incidents

David Beckham became an iconic global athlete when he burst onto the Premier League scene with Manchester United from 1992 to 2003.

He scored 62 goals for Manchester United in 265 appearances for the club and helped the team to multiple Football Association Cups and a UEFA Champions League trophy during his time there. The club was on top of the Premier League table for multiple seasons as well.

But since the glory days of Beckham, Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo, Manchester United has been mid-table at best. The Red Devils haven’t finished first in the Premier League since the 2012-13 season and were second twice.

He was among those who voiced criticism toward Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho, as both players were involved in incidents last week. Diallo flipped the middle finger toward fans in Malaysia as he said they were making remarks toward his mother while Garnacho had an incident with a fan who was filming him, according to ESPN.

For Beckham, it has underscored the lack of success for the club. Manchester United finished this past season 15th in the table.

REAL MADRID CONFIRMS XABI ALONSO IS RETURNING AS 'ONE OF THE BEST COACHES IN THE WORLD'

"I don't like seeing what's happening at the club," Beckham told CBS Sports as Paris Saint-Germain defeated Inter Milan for the Champions League trophy. "It's true that it's the pitch that matters, but I see a lot of things that are not acceptable to me as a fan and a lover of Manchester United. You have to represent the badge. I've seen a lot of things where players didn't act in the right way.

"We understood what it meant to play for Manchester United. We understood what the badge meant. Everywhere we traveled, whether in Europe or Asia, we respected the fans. We respected the fact that they came and paid money to see us, to get an autograph or to take pictures. You have to respect that."

Manchester United’s 15th-place finish was the worst since the 1989-90 season when the club was 13th in the Premier League. The club still managed to win the FA Cup that year. But it was three more seasons until they returned to the top of the Premier League standings.

UFC's Erin Blanchfield rips Maycee Barber after opponent pulls out of fight over reported medical issue

Erin Blanchfield was set to fight Maycee Barber in the main event of UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas over the weekend, but the bout was canceled moments before the bell was set to ring.

Barber, who competes in the women’s flyweight division, hadn’t fought since March 2024 because of an illness that she said led to a near-two-week hospital stay. Barber missed weight on Friday by a half pound and was already set to give up 20% of her purse to Blanchfield, according to ESPN.

Things took another strange twist Saturday night.

Blanchfield said in the post-UFC Fight Night press conference that UFC chief business officer Hunter Campbell told her Barber suffered a seizure minutes before she was set to walk to the Octagon, according to MMA Junkie. ESPN broadcasters said Barber suffered a medical issue.

"I feel like I'm still in pretty much disbelief right now," Blanchfield added, via MMA Junkie. "I feel like I was in disbelief yesterday when she missed weight because we knew about this fight since January. You could've been 50 pounds overweight and still missed weight.Β

"So, she missed weight, then she gets to Saturday. She gets to the locker room. I'm fully ready to go. She's supposed to be ready to go. Supposedly now she has all these health issues right when we're supposed to fight. I think it's pretty crazy. I think it's pretty unprofessional. I wouldn't want to fight her again."

Barber posted and re-shared videos on her Instagram page hyping up her return to the Octagon. But she did not address any alleged medical issues on social media.

Fox News Digital reached out to the UFC for comment.

Blanchfield was asked if she had advice for Barber.

"I don't know, she needs to look at another division," she said. "She needs to fix her life. She just needs to fix herself. I think she's a complete mess in every aspect of her entire life."

Blanchfield is 13-2 in her MMA career. She defeated Rose Namajunas in November via unanimous decision.

F1 star Max Verstappen creates controversy with dangerous contact on George Russell during Spanish Grand Prix

Formula 1 star Max Verstappen created a stir in the waning moments of Sunday’s Spanish Grand Prix as he appeared to purposely make contact with driver George Russell.

The issue began on the restart with about four laps to go in the race. Verstappen was attempting to catch some speed but got sideways on the front stretch. He saved his car from spinning and crashing but Charles Leclerc was able to get around him. Leclerc and Verstappen touched briefly as the Ferrari racer moved around the Red Bull driver.

As Leclerc zoomed past Verstappen, Russell was on the Austrian’s tail as well. Russell went to the inside of Verstappen in the first turn and the Red Bull racer was forced off the track. He ended up ahead of Russell for the time being. Replay showed that Verstappen and Russell made contact.

Verstappen was then told by his team to let Russell pass him to alleviate any possible concerns over whether he illegally got in front of the Mercedes driver.Β

On Lap 64, it appeared Verstappen was going to let Russell through, but the two ended up making wheel-to-wheel contact. Russell fell back and Verstappen pulled ahead.

"What the f---?… He just crashed into me," Russell was heard on the radio.

Verstappen eventually gave up the position to Russell before the race was over. Russell finished in fourth and Verstappen initially finished fifth but then was hit with a 10-second time penalty. He dropped to 10th after the discipline.

Oscar Piastri picked up another win for McLaren on the year. His teammate, Lando Norris, finished in second. Leclerc was third.

Tyrese Haliburton dunks on Ben Stiller after Pacers clinch NBA Finals berth with win over Knicks

Tyrese Haliburton got the last laugh on Saturday night as he fired back at New York Knicks fan Ben Stiller on social media following Indiana’s Eastern Conference Finals victory.

Haliburton had 21 points, 13 assists and three steals as the Pacers won Game 6, 125-108. Pascal Siakam led Indiana with 31 points and Obi Toppin had 18 points off the bench.

Haliburton and his other Pacers teammates entered the Gainbridge Fieldhouse wearing all black, alluding to having a funeral for the Knicks and the series. He carried a black duffel bag with him as he walked through the arena’s corridor. Stiller had some words on X.

"Good thing he brought his duffel for the flight to NY," he wrote.

After the game, Haliburton fired back.

"Nah, was to pack y’all up," Haliburton wrote.

It will be the first time the Pacers will compete in the NBA Finals since 2000, when the Reggie Miller and Rik Smits-led team ran into the Los Angeles Lakers. The franchise has never won an NBA championship, but had three American Basketball Association titles before the merger.

2025 NBA CHAMPIONSHIP ODDS: THUNDER FAVORED IN TILT WITH PACERS

Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle knows there’s still a major challenge ahead.

"This is no time to be popping champagne," he said. "When you get to this point of the season, it's two teams and it's one goal. So it becomes an all or nothing thing and we understand the magnitude of it."

The Pacers will meet the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Finals, starting on Thursday. The Thunder were the best team in the NBA all season long. Oklahoma City defeated Indiana in both matchups during the regular season.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

'Men don't belong in women's sports,' NBA star believes amid debate over transgender athletes

The inclusion of transgender athletes has been hotly debated in the sports world and beyond.

NBA star Jonathan Isaac has previously shared his thoughts on the topic. Last year, the Orlando Magic forward appeared to take particular issue with the White House's commemoration of "Transgender Day of Visibility."Β

Events at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue took place on March 31, the same day as 2024 Easter Sunday. Isaac has a faith-based sports apparel and shoe line called "UNITUS" and he often pubically discusses his Christian conviction.Β

"They want you to hate! This helps no one and only promotes division," he wrote. "They know exactly what they are doing.. we should be angry but shouldn’t lose the spirit of what tomorrow means! Don’t lose focus. Because He is risen there is hope for all."

In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, Isaac further explained his stance on transgender athletes' eligibility in girls' and women's sports.

"It's just a tough situation. There's an ethic… there's something that I believe is true. I believe that men and women are different. I believe that men do not belong in women's sports, that's a fundamental belief I hold. For reasons, one I'm a guy and I can understand the difference and the advantages that we have," Isaac said.

"But at the same time there is a reality of the situation… there are people who are not in sports who are transgender (who) are trying to live their life the best way they know how. And they have this feeling of what they believe is right and who else is to say they are wrong in some sense."

Isaac acknowledged the humanity of the complex situation, but said his belief in the fundamental differences between men and women ultimately prompted him to draw a line in the sand.

"But where I stake my flag is, I believe that in order to cater to the feelings of this group, I would have to trample on the feelings of women to get there. And that's where I say, 'OK, that’s where I believe this is wrong' and I would be willing to put my voice to it. I understand the humanity of the situation. I feel for the humanity of the situation. But at the end of the day, I believe it's right to stand on the truth of men and women are different. And I wouldn't want my daughter to have to compete against a transgender athlete (who) has gone through puberty or has testosterone."

Isaac shares two daughters with his wife.

Shortly after President Donald Trump's second term began, he signed an executive order effectively banning transgender athletes from participating in girls' and women's sports.Β

The executive order, "Keeping Men Out of Women's Sports," was based on Title IX, part of a civil rights law passed in 1972 that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in federally funded education programs.

The order instructed the Department of Education to investigate academic institutions that failed to comply. If a school is deemed to be in noncompliance, federal funds could be withdrawn.

Elsewhere, the International Olympic Committee has decided to allow global federations that govern a variety of sports to create their respective eligibility rules. Under Trump's executive order, the State Department is instructed to demand changes within the committee.

The NCAA reacted to the executive order by introducing a sweeping new policy. The organization's updated participation policy, which was announced in February, stated that only "student-athletes assigned female at birth" will be allowed to take part in intercollegiate athletic competitions.Β

The latest policy does permit "student-athletes assigned male at birth to practice with women's teams and receive benefits like medical care." However, those athletes are banned from any NCAA-sanctioned competitions.Β

In December 2024, NCAA President Charlie Baker told a Senate committee there were "less than 10" transgender college student athletes he was aware of at the time. Baker, who was the Republican governor of Massachusetts from 2015-2023, also confirmed that there are roughly "five hundred and ten thousand" athletes enrolled in more than 1,000 colleges and universities across all 50 states that the NCAA oversees.
